A man who was found dead Sunday in a van near the Verrazano Bridge may have taken his own life.

The unidentified man was found dead in his car near the Verrazano Bridge Sunday, as reported by News 12 Brooklyn.

Police were called to a rest area near the Belt Parkway Promenade on Mother’s Day at around 5 p.m. – where they reportedly found the victim in a dark minivan.

Then yesterday, Bensonhurst Bean’s Ned Berke – after receiving word from tipster Bob de Thomas – wrote that the 51-year-old man had apparently died from a gunshot wound to the head with a .25-caliber semi-automatic, which authorities had recovered from the floor of the vehicle.

The Medical Examiner, who was on the scene with law enforcement until at least 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, has not yet listed the cause of death as suicide. The investigation is ongoing.
