The debate will no longer take place on September 25.

Lesson One in event planning in September and October: first, consult a Jewish calendar.

The Bay Ridge Community Council has cancelled its meeting next Tuesday, September 25, which was to include The Great Bay Ridge Debate featuring eight candidates from four local political races, as the event coincided with the start of Yom Kippur.

According to the BRCC’s Facebook page, they are working to reschedule the event:

OUR GENERAL MEETING/POLITICAL DEBATE ON SEPT. 25th HAS BEEN CANCELLED …

As we’ve realized that our regularly scheduled general meeting falls on the evening of a sacred, religious holy day, we are immediately canceling both the Council’s meeting and the political debate and are in the process of rescheduling the event so that all may participate. We sincerely apologize for the scheduling oversight and any offense it may have caused. We are always grateful for the involvement and participation of all our affiliated organizations and will continue to support each and every one of you. We will keep you updated.
