I’d say the ballfields don’t get much of a workout when it’s 20 degrees out… this picture is actually from December, when it was a balmy 40.
The Crazy Target Lady has single-handedly turned me off to shopping both (1) between Halloween and Martin Luther King’s birthday and (2) at Target, anytime, for any reason. However, I whole-heartedly approve of going to the movies during the extended Thanksgiving weekend.
I especially approve of the Alpine. It ain’t the fanciest movie house in New York City, but it works just fine for me, and it’s ticket prices are a throwback to 1999 to boot.
P.S. Anyone who grew up on Jim Henson needs to see The Muppets. Also, see it here.

I went to the Bay Ridge Pie Social at The Art Room yesterday. In related news, I can be found at the gym everyday this week except Thanksgiving – that day, expect to see me on my bicycle for an hour or two.
This photo was not taken this past weekend, but could have been. MTA construction crews were working in roughly the same spot along the N-line in Bensonhurst.
This track renewal is pretty lightweight work compared to what the MTA has planned for this section of the line starting in 2012 and beyond. The entire Sea Beach Line – from 8th Avenue to 86th Street – is due for a complete overhaul that will see extensive construction work on the retaining wall and all nine stations. It is certainly important to maintain the subway system’s aging infrastructure – and this line’s stations are well past overdue for an overhaul – but I have to admit, I’m dreading being subjected to the kind of transit misery that B-/Q-train riders suffered through for years.
