The Narrows Community Theater cast of Noises Off (Photo by director Christian Fleming)

This is the listing of Bay Ridge events, put together by the Odyssey team. You can have this list e-mailed to you every week by signing up here.

You can always access the Odyssey’s full event calendar right here. We try to put everything that comes to our attention on this calendar, but if you have an event, and want to see it here, the best way is to let us know about it by e-mailing the details to info@bayridgeodyssey.com.

THEATER and OPERA

  • Narrows Community Theater presents Noises Off (St. Patrick’s Auditorium, 9511 4th Avenue) - Called the funniest farce ever written, Noises Off presents a manic menagerie as a cast of itinerant actors rehearsing a flop called Nothing’s On. Doors slamming, on and backstage intrigue, and an errant herring all figure in the plot of this hilarious and classically comic play. Noises Off is a play within a play. It is about an ambitious director and his troupe of mediocre actors. The cast and crew are putting together a silly sex comedy titled, Nothing On – a single-set farce in which lovers frollic, doors slam, clothes are tossed away, and embarrassing hi-jinks ensue. $15 adults, $12 seniors/children/students under 21. Fri 2/22, Sat 2/23, Sun 2/24. Friday and Saturday showings start at 8pm, Sunday showings start at 2pm. Click to read our prior coverage.
  • Art On The Corner and PentaWinds present The School For Lovers (Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 7420 4th Avenue) - An Imaginary Opera – an adaptation of Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutte for narrator and wind quartet. $10 suggested donation at the door. Sun 2/24, 3pm.
  • Regina Opera (Our Lady Of Perpetual Help Auditorium, 5902 6th Avenue) - Join us for a fully-staged performance of Suor Angelica and La Serva Padrona, two short operas, sung in Italian with English supertitles. This is a fully-staged performance. On 2/26, it will feature Regina Opera’s covers (understudies), and will be accompanied by piano. On weekends it will be accompanied by 35-piece orchestra. Free admission on Tuesday. Weekend showings: $25 general admission, $20 for seniors and students under 25, $5 for teens, free for children. Tue 2/26 at 7pm; Sat 3/2, Sun 3/3, Sat 3/9, and Sun 3/10 at 3pm. Continue reading »

The Bands For The Beach benefit concert for Hurricane Sandy victims will be at St. Patrick’s Church this Friday, November 30.

This is the listing of Bay Ridge events, put together by the Odyssey team. This week’s edition has Charlie Murphy, two benefit concerts for Hurricane Sandy victims, the Vince Mazza ONE/Act Festival, and lots more.

Before we get into the events, we want to note a few things about this listing:

  • This event listing used to be nine days long, but then we realized how much more useful fourteen days would be.
  • You can always access the Odyssey’s full event calendar right here. We try to put everything that comes to our attention on this calendar, but if you have an event, and want to see it here, the best way is to let us know about it by e-mailing the details to info@bayridgeodyssey.com.
