In yet another bar fight involving off-duty first responders in Bay Ridge, two NYPD officers have been suspended without pay after one allegedly pointed his gun at a group of women before firing a shot into the air.

Frank and Eddie’s Meat Market [7502 3rd Ave] may soon begin serving up adult beverages alongside their choice steaks and cold cuts, as reported by Will Bredderman for Brooklyn Paper.
Dennis Mannarino who owns the butcher shop, which has provided the neighborhood with prime meats since 1963, wants to turn a former food prep area in the back of the store into a beer and wine bar that will sell hot deli sandwiches.
Mannarino, along with butcher bar partners Pam Caliendo and Joe Tafuri, has apparently already gotten the ball rolling by applying for a liquor license, readying the space for construction, and beginning to assemble a menu. Continue reading »
Bay Ridge’s annual Ragamuffin Parade, which is now in its 46th year, will march along 3rd Avenue from 76th Street to 92nd Street on September 29, 2012 – beginning at 1 p.m.
Arlene Figaro, Headmistress of Bay Ridge’s Visitation Academy [8902 Ridge Boulevard], will serve as this year’s Grand Marshal, while John Abi-Habib, President and CEO of MSI Computers – a Bay Ridge-based computer services firm, has been named as the parade group’s 2012 Man of the Year.
On Sunday, September 16, at 2:00 p.m. Figaro and Abi-Habib will be honored at the Ragamuffin Luncheon Celebration in the grand ballroom of the Bay Ridge Manor [476 76th Street].
According to Ragamuffin President Colleen Golden, tickets to the event – which is a major fund-raiser for the annual parade, are $65 per person. They may be purchased by forwarding a check made payable to Ragamuffin, Inc. to 85 80th Street, Brooklyn, NY 11209.

This is just a reminder that Coney Island USA artist-in-residence Marie Roberts will be showcasing 15 years of her colorful side show images at the Art Room [8710 3rd Ave] this coming Saturday.
On August 4, from 6 to 9 p.m., attendees can expect to be treated to a piece of living Southern Brooklyn history in the form of Roberts’ art, as well as an appearance by magician, strongman, and world-famous sideshow performer Adam Real Man.
After opening night, private showings of Marie Roberts’ work will be available by appointment only through August 24.
The Art Room is located at 8710 3rd Ave, between 87th Street and 88th Street.

While unseasonably cool temperatures and rain made the weather less than cooperative for a summer street fair, Bay Ridge’s first Summer Stroll on Third Avenue last Friday still managed to be a success, writes Melisa Stumpf for the Home Reporter.
Summer Stroll, which closes 3rd Ave from 82nd Street to 89th Street, returns for three more dates in July and August. The event “transforms” the thoroughfare into a pedestrian mall complete with block-by-block street themes.
