The accompanying image, which was published courtesy of Bath Beach photographer David Tan, shows an antique mailbox outside of an anonymous Bay Ridge home. Coincidentally, my fiance and I have a restored mailbox featuring the same exact design, sans post, at home.

It was taken on September 9, 2012.

When we first started doing a weekly photo series for Bay Ridge, I was afraid it would eventually become redundant, with just too many similar-looking photos of the Narrows and Verrazano Bridge.

Thanks to the good work of the one and only David Tan, those fears have thankfully proven to be unfounded.

The above image shows another of the seemingly inexhaustible number of angles you can get of Bay Ridge’s beautiful waterfront, as seen from the Shore Road Promenade.

It was taken on August 29, 2012.

The above image, by Bath Beach photographer David Tan, shows a classic Volkswagen Beetle from the brand that, in the span of a decade, went from being associated with Hitler to becoming a symbol of 1960s counterculture. During the 1980s, a popular movie about time travel led an entire generation to associate the “VW” with terrorism. At least until they went to college.

The photo was taken at the 68th Precinct’s National Night Out in Shore Road Park on August 7, 2012.
