Kip from Bay Ridge Journal is reporting that, starting this weekend, City Councilman Vincent Gentile will once again be keeping office hours at the Bay Ridge Greenmarket.
If you’re getting tired of fighting the Saturday crowds at the Bay Ridge Greenmarket, Lutheran Medical Center’s Farmers Market starts tomorrow in nearby Sunset Park.
With its location on 55th Street between 1st Avenue and 2nd Avenue, the market will be open for business every Thursday until November 15.
The weekly event is put together by Harvest Home, which operates “farmers markets in high-need, low income communities,” throughout the city. So even if you’re not in need, you’re still helping to support a good cause by shopping there.

FOOD & DRINK: After a weekend of celebrating Mexico’s mighty 1862 victory over invading French marines at the Battle of Puebla with stiff margaritas, beefy tacos, and the biggest, most ginormous burrito I have ever seen in my life… I could totally stand to eat an apple or two. Maybe even reacquaint myself with “vegetables.” So perhaps GrowNYC had me in mind when they decided to follow up Cinco de Mayo with the reopening of the Bay Ridge Greenmarket – back for its fifth season, starting this Saturday, May 12. The market will be open from 8am to 3pm this Saturday and every Saturday until November 17.
